Terms of Service
Last updated: 11 July 2026. Plain language, no fine-print traps.
1. What laptopool is
laptopool lets you pool computers you own into a private cloud and, optionally, offer spare capacity to others for payment. By creating an account you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.
2. Your account
You're responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your password and any API keys secret. Tell us promptly if you think an account or key has been compromised. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live.
3. Your devices and what runs on them
You decide which devices join your pool and exactly how much CPU, storage, and bandwidth you share. The agent runs as an unprivileged service and does not access your personal files. If you enable hosting for others, sandboxed workloads may run on your hardware within the limits you set; you can pause or stop sharing at any time.
4. Acceptable use
Don't use laptopool to break the law, infringe others' rights, run malware, attack or overload systems, mine in violation of a device's terms, or process content you have no right to. We may suspend accounts that do, and remove workloads that threaten the network.
5. Payments, earnings, and payouts
Deposits add credit to your wallet and are processed by Stripe (cards) or on-chain (crypto). Usage is metered and billed against your balance at the rates shown on the pricing page. If you host, you earn a share of what buyers pay for work your devices complete, credited to your wallet. Payouts are reviewed and typically settle in 2–5 business days to your chosen destination. You're responsible for any taxes on your earnings.
6. Confidentiality limits
We're honest about this: work you send to other people's machines runs on hardware we don't control. Backups are encrypted on your device before they leave it, so hosts only ever hold ciphertext. For compute that must run in the clear on a host, don't send data you can't afford a host to see. See our security page for details.
7. Availability, and “as is”
We work hard to keep the service healthy (see status), but the service is provided as is, without warranties. Distributed home hardware can go offline; we don't guarantee uninterrupted service or that any specific device stays available.
8. Liability
To the extent the law allows, laptopool isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the three months before the claim.
9. Changes and ending your account
We may update these terms; we'll change the date above and, for material changes, tell you. You can close your account any time. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms.
